Message from the Head of the Middle School

Two essential ingredients are needed to create a positive middle school experience: an academically rigorous program and a caring, supportive faculty. In equal measure, these two elements provide the Middle School girls at Garrison Forest with the classroom experience that will serve as the foundation for their growth as scholars and well-rounded individuals. The needs of adolescent learners guide our curriculum and practice, from our use of a block schedule to lesson plans and activities that cultivate cooperation, allow for creative expression, and provide structure and clear limits. Our time with them is fleeting, but in these three formative years, we seek to prepare girls for Upper School who are knowledgeable, emotionally and physically healthy, motivated, civically inspired, engaged in the arts, and ready for a lifetime of learning and meaningful work.
