Director of Admission and Financial Aid
Leslie Tinati has been working in independent school admissions for 15 years. She returned to the Garrison Forest admission office in July 2007, and was appointed Director of Admission and Financial Aid in 2009. Leslie first came to GFS in the spring of 1991 as Assistant Director of Admission. Between 1991 and 1999, Leslie worked in Upper School Admission with day and residential families, as well as Middle School and Lower Division Admission, while also taking some time off to start her family. In 2000, Leslie joined the admission office at Calvert School. From 2003 to 2007, she was the Upper School Placement Director for all students graduating from the Eighth Grade and the Middle School Admission Officer at Calvert. Appointed co-chair by the Headmaster, Leslie oversaw the completion of Calvert's Action Plan and long-range goals submitted for the school's reaccreditation by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools. Originally from New York City, Leslie graduated from Brown University with a B.A in English and American Literature and does volunteer work for Brown's admission office as a regional alumni interviewer. Prior to coming to Baltimore, Leslie worked for several years in advertising account management and taught First Grade at the Town School. Leslie lives in Lutherville with her husband and two daughters, one a student at GFS and the other a sophomore in college.
Ms. Crystal Lee '96
Associate Director of Admission
A Baltimore native and 1996 graduate of Garrison Forest School, Crystal Lee returned to Garrison Forest upon graduating from Loyola College in Maryland in 2000. She began her career in the GFS Development Office as the Alumnae Director, rising to the position of Associate Director of Development and Director of The Fund for Garrison Forest. In 2005, she moved on campus and joined the Residential Life Faculty. Crystal has served as Senior Class Advisor since 2002. In 2011, she joined the Admission Office as Associate Director of Admission. Off campus, Crystal volunteers as a member of the Development Committee for Irvine Nature Center, Development Committee Chair for the Enterprise Women’s Network, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for The Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust (B.E.S.T.).
Ms. Lauren Misera '02
Assistant Director of Admission
Lauren Misera began her career at Garrison Forest as a student in 1993 where she was a stand-out athlete in field hockey and lacrosse. After graduating in 2002, Lauren received her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University in Health and Fitness and her Master's degree in Health Education and Promotion in 2009. In the fall of 2009, Lauren joined her alma mater as Director of Auxiliary Facilities where she coordinated facility rentals and facilitated camps. Her duties also included teaching an 8th Grade elective and coaching Middle School sports. In 2012, Lauren joined the Admission office as Assistant Director of Admission in the Middle School. In addition to her admission responsibilities, Lauren will continue to coach Middle School field hockey and lacrosse.
Mrs. Liz Schindler
Director of Lower Division Admission
Liz Schindler is the Director of Lower Division Admission and a member of the Diversity Leadership Council. She began her career in the Lower Division at GFS in 2004 as the Assistant Head of the Lower Division working with the student, families, and faculty in the Preschool.
Having spent many years teaching and tutoring all age levels and completing a degree in Early Childhood Education from the State University of New York, Mrs. Schindler received a B.S. degree in Organizational Communication from Towson University and a Master of Education from Johns Hopkins University. She has also completed Certificate Programs in Independent School Leadership and Brain Mind and Teaching from JHU.
Mrs. Schindler believes that a sense of open-mindedness, good communication skills, and strong academic expectations are the cornerstone of a successful, healthy school.
