Will I receive a reminder of my pledge?

A

Yes! The Development Office will mail you reminders of your pledge throughout the year until it is paid off.

What is the difference between The Fund for Garrison Forest and The Centennial Campaign?

A

The Fund for Garrison Forest supports the general operating budget to help offset expenses not covered by tuition. Gifts to The Fund for Garrison Forest are used within the year they are given.

The Centennial Campaign builds the School’s assets by underwriting construction and renovation projects or by being permanently invested in our Endowment. Gifts to The Centennial Campaign support the long-term fiscal health of Garrison Forest. Capital gifts begin at $25,000 and can be paid over several years.

What is The Fund for Garrison Forest?

A

The Annual Fund, now The Fund for Garrison Forest, has always played a vital role in the School’s success. The Fund for Garrison Forest supports 6% the School's operating budget by offsetting expenses not covered by tuition (tuition supports 75% of the operating budget) and income from the Endowment (interest from Endowment covers 6% of the operating budget). Gifts to the Fund directly and immediately benefit each student and teacher as well as every program on campus, allowing the School to provide an exceptional educational experience.

I am not in the position to make a leadership gift, how does my gift help?

A

Every gift is important. When foundations and corporations are deciding which institutions they will support, they look for high levels of participation from our Alumnae, Parents, and Friends. Participation is a barometer of the success of our program. Every gift makes a difference! The Fund for Garrison Forest pools smaller gifts together to make a large impact.

Didn’t I already give this year?

A

The Fund for Garrison Forest follows the school year (July 1 - June 30).

Q

Do I have to pay now? May I pay in installments?

A

GFS will accept payments on pledges until June 30th when the Fund closes. Payments may be made by gifts of stock, check, Visa or MasterCard, or cash. Visa and MasterCard payments can also be made securely online. Payments by cash or check may be made in installments that you establish, you can also sign up for automatic credit card deductions to be taken on the 15th of each month.

What is a planned gift?

A

A planned gift, quite simply, is any gift that takes more than an immediate decision to make. The key word is planned. The basic concept is that donors often have assets that can benefit themselves and Garrison Forest at the same time.

What assets can be used to fund planned gifts?

A

What is a life-income gift?

A

A life-income gift is one that will pay you regularly for the rest of your life. The two most common kinds are charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder unitrusts. Many donors have found them to be an ideal investment, since they provide income now for donors and long-term support for Garrison Forest. What are capital gifts?

A

Capital gifts are significant in size and can be given over a period of years. Capital gifts support both endowment and capital projects. They benefit the School immediately and provide a foundation for future growth and success. Capital gifts are vital to the School's fiscal health and are key to our ability to remain competitive in the recruitment and retention of faculty and students. While capital gifts are crucial, we ask that gifts to The Fund for Garrison Forest remain your philanthropic priority.
