Upper School Dance Program Presents "Live • Love • Dance"

Posted: May 16, 2012

On May 3-4, the Upper School Dance program presented "Live • Love • Dance" to enthusiastic audiences. The annual spring concert showcased the talents of the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Dance classes, which meet from two to three hours a week throughout the school year as part of the afternoon after-school dance program.

Close to 40 students participated in the production, including seven graduating seniors. Of the girls performing, 30 have studied dance with Mrs. Bell every trimester since the start of their freshman year for anywhere from one to four years. Their dedication and commitment to the dance program was evident in this moving, entertaining, and beautifully performed evening of dance.

The girls danced in a range of styles, including lyrical, jazz, and contemporary to music by artists such as Adele, Imogen Heap, Lady Gaga, Drake, and Beyoncé. In addition to the choreography of Dance instructor and concert director Amie Bell, sophomore Ashley Mitchell and junior Emma Austin choreographed and performed a beautiful duet.

“Every student in this show danced with grace, energy, passion, and commitment,” says a proud Ms. Bell. “The show was a wonderful two-night celebration of our talented and dedicated Garrison Forest dance students.”
