Middle School students enjoyed a one-of-a-kind afterschool activity on May 24. Using vinyl banners used by Garrison Forest for the Centennial, Athletics, and other purposes, craft students and Mary Stewart, Art teacher, made stylish messenger bags and purses. Beth Lacey Gill ’97, Irvine Nature Center’s Director of Marketing, Communications and Rentals, led the group in this fashionable recycling project.
The Middle School Forum decided that each participant would pay $3 to raise money for the World Land Trust , an environmental non-profit working to conserve and protect endangered lands. The girls raised over $80, kept vinyl out of landfills, and created runway-perfect, sustainable, and very stylish accessories. Way to be extra green, Blue!
