The Class of 2019 bid farewell to the Forest on June 8 at the 5th Grade Closing ceremony in Garland Theater. It was a fitting and touching send-off to the students’ elementary school years as they took their next step into Middle School.
The class chose songs reflecting this important transition—Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell and Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield—and read short essays on a significant moment of growth while at Garrison Forest. Head of School Peter O’Neill and Head of Lower School Steve Song also offered inspiring remarks.
As is tradition, a few awards were bestowed at the 5th Grade Closing:
Spirit Award: The Third Grade
Citizenship Award: Serena Shafer
Personal Growth: Lila Bennett
Congratulations, rising 6th Graders!
