Garrison Forest School

5th Grade Capstone Projects

On April 26, 5th Grade girls held presentations of their Capstone Projects in the Lower School. The 5th Grade Capstone project is a GFS signature program where girls spend the month of December exploring areas of personal interest that could lead to a research question and project. In the months to follow, they use NoodleTools to collect information and develop an outline before creating a formal research paper.

Each year, GFS faculty and staff in and beyond the Lower School serve as mentors for the girls on their Capstone Projects. Mentors support the girls in researching topics, developing papers and preparing speeches. Their work culminates with a "5th Grade Signature Event" in the Lower School where students present to GFS faculty, staff, 5th Grade families and Lower School students in a seminar-style format.
