GFS 9th Graders Perform at Maryland State Fair

Four Garrison Forest 9th Graders, Kate Levine, Carly Baker, Amber Carter and Lauren Blagmond, performed before the opening of two horse shows at the Maryland State Fair on September 2.

The girls were so inspired after working with Middle School Music Teacher Ginny Flynn throughout Middle School that they continued singing together as an ensemble all summer before being asked to perform at the State Fair. The girls created their own four-part arrangements of the Star-Spangled Banner, God Bless America and Maryland, My Maryland for their performances. They sang their early performance a capella and were accompanied by the 65-piece Hunt Valley Wind Ensemble for their evening performance. The evening prior, the girls rehearsed with the band and were blown away by the the prestigious honor.

Congratulations Kate, Carly, Lauren and Amber! We are proud of you for representing GFS with grace and perfect harmony.
