New at Garrison Forest for summer 2012, The Handwork Studio LLC is offering two day camps as part of its kids' needle arts and fashion studio programs. At these camps, professional artists, instructors, and skilled teachers pass down the tradition of teaching practical arts such as knitting, crocheting, hand and machine sewing, embroidery, quilting, fashion, and crafts in a fun and relaxed environment focused on each student's accomplishments.

There will be two, concurrent sessions at Garrison Forest on August 13-24, 2012.

Handwork Day Camp for ages 5-12

Learn a variety of needle arts skills in a fun and modern way with our cheerful and patient instructors. In this project-based program, campers have the opportunity to learn knitting and crocheting, hand and machine sewing, embroidery, needle-felting, weaving, and much more! Each day campers will experience different techniques as they make stuffed animals, room decorations, fashion accessories, clothing, toys and camper inspired projects.The result: making really cool projects with new friends while having fun! Additionally, every camper will take home a "Handwork Kit" filled with our favorite supplies so they can continue the fun and learning.

Machine Sewing and Fashion Camp for ages 10-16

Welcome to the wonderful world of machine sewing where YOU get to choose! Campers will have the opportunity to create and design "one of a kind" fashions, adorable stuffed animals, room decorations, quilts and other fun accessories in the fabrics of their choice. Whether you are new to sewing or a seasoned seamstress ourexpert staff will work with campers individually and in a group setting to ensure success and growth. Our instructors will patiently teach kids how to use a sewing machine (a machine is provided for each camper), read patterns, take measurements, match colors, and help create a sewing kit that we fill with our favorite tools to take home*.
