Job Descriptions
Lead Instructor
Lead Instructors are responsible for the daily implementation of camp activities and will oversee a specific group of campers. Applicants who have the availability to work multiple weeks will be prioritized.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
- For Curious Cubs camp (ages 3-5), Lead Instructors must have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or completion of the 90-hour Certificate for preschool training
- Current teacher or teaching experience preferred
- Summer camp working experience
- CPR and First Aid Certification (provided)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Design and prepare the weekly themed curriculum and age-appropriate activities in conjunction with the camp director
- Lead and implement hands-on crafts, games, and overall programming for an assigned group
- Actively oversee campers and enforce all safety guidelines and camp rules; report and attend to incidents or problems
- Assist with supervision of arrival, dismissal, lunch and swimming/water play
- Provide guidance and instruction to Counselors, Jr. Counselors and Volunteers
- Attend staff training and weekly meetings led by the camp director
- If applicable, drive a GFS mini-bus to transport campers to off-site locations; training will be provided
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner that represents the camp in a positive light and abide by the school’s camp policies and rules
- Perform other duties as assigned
Counselor
Counselors will work closely with the Lead Teachers for the daily implementation of camp activities and will assist in overseeing a specific group of campers. Applicants who have the availability to work multiple weeks will be prioritized.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- High school completion
- Experience working with children
- Summer camp working experience preferred
- CPR and First Aid Certification (provided)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist with planning and implementing hands-on crafts, games, and overall programming for an assigned group

Junior Counselor
Junior Counselors will assist and support Lead Teachers and Counselors in managing the daily events of their group, facilitating camp activities and supervising campers. Applicants who have the availability to work multiple weeks will be prioritized.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 16-17 years of age
- Current High School student
- Experience working with children
- Summer camp working experience preferred
- CPR and First Aid Certification (provided)

- Engage and play with campers in an energetic, safe and professional manner
- Assist with supervision of campers and lead activities as needed
- Attend staff training and weekly meetings led by the camp director
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner that represents the camp in a positive light and abide by the school’s camp policies and rules
- Perform other duties as assigned
Volunteer
Volunteers are given the opportunity to work in different areas around Summer at Garrison Forest and gain valuable experience rotating weekly with Counselors & Teachers. Volunteers spend their time all over campus, with various age groups and specialty areas throughout the summer. Please note that while this is an unpaid position, preference for future paid positions is given to candidates who have volunteered with us in previous summers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 14-15 years of age
- Current or incoming High School student
- Desire to work with children and learn the summer camp environment
