The joy of learning and creative engagement continues beyond the school day at the Lower School through meaningful and enjoyable afterschool programs. Girls make broader social interactions, explore new learning opportunities, express themselves and have fun in a variety of activities or clubs rooted in the mission, vision and warmth of the Lower School.

Fees and hours vary by program, and SPACE IS LIMITED.

Spring 2017 Woodlands Offerings


Sewing Club (Grades 1-2 and 3-5)
Our program consists of teaching students how to use the sewing machine while working on a project. Students will be able to choose two items to make, such as, a drawstring bag, emoji pillow, or an owl pillow. All students will make a hooded animal scarf.

Breakout on the Go (Grades 3-5)

It's time for something different! Breakout EDU provides students with game-based learning opportunities modeled on the popular Escape Room games. Breakout games teach teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting by presenting students with challenges that ignite their natural drive to problem-solve. For our inaugural Breakout On the Go, we will be presenting Breakout challenges that require active locomotion and high energy, utilizing the outside campus when weather permits. It's Breakout meets Grizzlies on the Go!!

Drone Club (Grades 3-5)
Explore new heights with drones! Through hands-on learning, students will use math, science, and engineering skills to research, model, build and fly a quadcopter drone. Each child will be able to take home their drone to practice and showcase their skills. Young students are engaged through existing and new programs which incorporate UAS-related hardware, software, applications and related technologies. Students will also get the unique opportunity to learn programming and coding through an interactive app. For more information, please visit

Page to Stage Drama Club (Grades K-2)
Calling all performers! In this after school drama club, students have the chance to shine. Using theatre games and group activities, these young performers will build self-confidence, improve their public speaking skills and collaborate creatively with their peers as they take a story from the page to the stage

Join Coach Kesler's Spirit Club! Girls will learn cheers, chants, stunts and a dance. After the 10 week session, the girls will have a few special performances

Greater Baltimore Engineering for Kids (Grades K-2 and 3-5)
3D printing and Minecraft both represent boundless opportunity for creating even our wildest of ideas! In 3D Printing: Minecraft Creations, students will explore the basic concepts of 3D printing and computer-aided design, or CAD, to bring their most awesome Minecraft creation to life! Students will take their Minecraft design out of the world of Minecraft and learn how to extrude it into a 3D model that can then be modified to be printed in 3D.

Tiny Chefs (Grades K-2)
Tiny Chefs share the joy of cooking with kids. In a safe and fun environment, children learn through cooking. They obtain basic education skills and culinary techniques while making and enjoying healthy and delicious foods. Our instructors teach kids to follow directions and safety guidelines; identify, measure and combine ingredients; and work together on a team to accomplish goals.

Eco-Explorers (Grades K-2 and 3-5)
Irvine’s Eco-Explorer Club offers an enriching opportunity for kids to be active outdoors, discover nature and continue learning long after the school bell rings. With daily activities such as live animal encounters, science experiments, nature crafts and exploring the outdoors, your students will engage all their senses and establish a valuable connection with the natural world.
