Preschool

Twos, Threes and Pre-Kindergarten

The Preschool at Garrison Forest offers full-day, full-week programs for Twos, Threes and PreKindergarten, with optional aftercare available for those who need it. Please visit the Preschool page to learn more about each program.

Annual cost (academic year, late August through early June):

Without aftercare (8:00 AM-3:00 PM): $20,175 per year
With aftercare included (8:00 AM-6:00 PM): $23,775 per year

Uniforms, (Kindergarten through Fifth Grade): $150 approximate in the first year
Lunch, daily cost (Third Grade through Fifth Grade): $5.50 per day; Students may bring their own lunch.
Parent Association dues: $75 per year

After school care is available from 3:00 to 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. when school is in session. Each day the children will be able to select from a variety of activities including arts and crafts, table games, sports, and cheering on Garrison Forest teams. A nutritious snack will also be provided. The yearly costs range from $1,000 to $3,500, depending on how many hours and days your child is enrolled.

Women in Science and Engineering (WISE)

Garrison Forest offers a semester residential program for qualified juniors and seniors to participate in the school's innovative partnership with Johns Hopkins University (JHU). Additional fees apply.

Need-Based Financial Assistance

We believe every qualified student should have access to a Garrison Forest education. Our financial assistance program is designed to support families from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Awards are need-based, grant-funded (not loans), and help reduce the cost of tuition starting in Kindergarten for qualified families. While the school cannot guarantee assistance, we strive to offer assistance to the widest socioeconomic range of students our funds can afford.

APPLICATION-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

The Hyatt Hood Young ’42 Scholarship (For Entering Grades 9-12)

The Young Scholarships are made possible through the generosity of two Garrison Forest alumnae, sisters Hyatt Young ’42 and Elizabeth “Betty” Young ’40. Both sisters chose to support Garrison Forest School through trusts that provided significant scholarship funds upon their passing. The legacy of their generosity will support students for generations to come.

The Hyatt Hood Young ’42 Scholarship is a competitive, merit- and need-based scholarship providing full day tuition, renewable annually, to one Garrison Forest School student entering grades 9-12.

Eligibility and Criteria

Application Process

Completed Hyatt Hood Young ‘42 Scholarship Application. All portions of the application, including one short answer question and one essay prompt, must be received by December 15
Applicants to GFS must also submit their completed application for admission by December 15 to be considered for this scholarship.
Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation, including one from an academic teacher, must be received by December 15. Please note: Common referral forms will not be accepted as Letters of Recommendation. Applicants must provide the names of their recommenders on the scholarship application.
Interview: Interviews of all Hyatt Hood Young ‘42 Scholarship applicants will be conducted by the Scholarship Committee. The Garrison Forest School Admissions Office will contact you to select your preferred date and time.
Current Academic Transcript: Your current transcript will be considered along with the additional application materials listed below. (Note: By submitting the application, you are authorizing the Scholarship Committee to request your transcript from the Registrar (current GFS students) or to review it from your admission application (prospective students).
2024 Tax Returns. Note: If you are applying for financial assistance, the Scholarship Committee will request this information from what has already been submitted; if you are not applying for financial assistance, please submit a copy of your 2024 tax returns via email to Catie Perich, Director of Enrollment Management, at catieperich@gfs.org.

The Elizabeth Welsh Young ’40 Scholarship (For Entering Grades 5-8)

Legacy Scholarship Program

Garrison Forest offers two merit-based legacy scholarships for any new student or current day student entering Grades 8-12 to board at Garrison Forest. These awards recognize exceptional character and academic achievement. The Legacy Scholarship covers the difference in cost between day and boarding tuition. Both current students and new applicants who are alumnae daughters, granddaughters, sisters, or nieces are eligible to apply.
