Alumnae Awards

• Each nominee must be an alumna, a faculty member (current or past), a staff member (current or past) or a coach (current or past).
• Each nominated graduate must have been an alumna for at least ten years.
• The nominee must reflect the motto, mission and spirit of Garrison Forest.

• Britta Williams Brown '04: As one of the youngest women to lead basketball administration for an NBA team, the Detroit Pistons, Britta broke barriers and paved the way for future leaders in the industry. She is a creative visionary who excels in strategic thinking.
• Jennifer Lawrence ’85: In addition to devoting her life’s work to improving the wellness of the members of her community in rural Georgia, Jennifer is an active contributor to the medical field and has held leadership positions with the Georgia Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. She is also a passionate patient advocate through the Oxalosis and Hyperoxaluria Foundation.
• Jody Johnson ’74: A fiercely passionate conservationist, educator and advocate, Jody Johnson has tackled environmental global issues with creativity and innovation. She even found time to teach our very own lower school students about bees, including a hands-on demonstration!

• Mary "Libby" Elizabeth Schroeder '97, Senior Medical Director for Acute Care Services and Associate Trauma Medical Director for Froedtert Hospital, Co-Chair of Community Engagement for MCW’s Comprehensive Injury Center and Co-Director of the 414Life Program, the hospital’s violence interruption program. She is a leading expert in trauma informed care and prevention.
• Barbara “B.J.” McElderry, Served as a pivotal member of the Garrison Forest School arts faculty for 42 years; she was the Department Chair from 1978 until 2015 and retired in 2018.
• Margaret Stick ᾽99, An OH-58 Kiowa Warrior helicopter pilot who was deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, she has served as a reconnaissance platoon leader and troop and squadron commander and currently writes joint tactical doctrine for the Department of Defense.

• Bisrat Abraham '96, Associate Director for Pfizer’s Vaccine Clinical Research & Development Program, playing a key role on one of the teams that brought a COVID-19 vaccine to the public
• Crystal Lee Alston '96, Director of Advancement at Baltimore Educational Scholarship (B.E.S.T.) and served in many roles at GFS, including Associate Director of Advancement and Associate Director of Admission
• Lila Boyce Lohr '63, Served as head or interim head at many different institutions, including Garrison Forest from 2017-18, is a widely published author of national publications and professional journals, and has served on many boards
• Stacy Garrett-Ray '92, Senior Vice President and Chief Impact Officer of Ascension Healthcare and previously served as Vice President/Medical Director of the University of Maryland Medical System’s Population Health Services Organization and as the COVID-19 Incident Command Community Provider Liaison for the University of Maryland Medical System
• Miriam G. Vanderveer, Past Faculty, GFS teacher for 47 years who made the largest gift in the school's history up until that time as part of her bequest
• Martha Colhoun Williams '85, Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and recently nominated as Director of the Fish and Wildlife Service (On March 8, 2022, Williams was sworn in as the 23rd Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service)

• Liza Shoemaker Kelly '94, Hall of Fame lacrosse player and head coach for University of Denver Pioneers
• Joan Kang Shin '89, Associate Professor of Education at George Mason University, award-winning author of several TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) for National Geographic Learning and an English language specialist for the U.S. Department of State
• Beth Warfield '73, member of the Senior Foreign Service and Mission Director for USAID in Mexico
• Anne Colston Wentz '58, distinguished career in academic medicine, particularly as a pioneer in in vitro fertilization and other areas of women's health

• Alice Hackney Altstatt ’45, anesthesiologist and the only female in her medical school class
