Our parent volunteers are instrumental in making every school year fun, welcoming, and community-focused! There are numerous ways for parents to get involved in the GFS community throughout the year. We encourage our parents to volunteer whenever they can.

The opportunities range in size, scope, and commitment level. Upon submitting your interest form, you will hear from our PA volunteer leader in the areas where you have expressed interest.

If you're not sure how or when you'd like to volunteer, but you know you'd like to hear more regularly about volunteer opportunities, please select the General PA Volunteer option.

Volunteer Opportunities with Parent Association (PA) Events & Programs:

Sapphires & Denim - Fall

Event Date is Friday, November 7

  • Identify and procure silent auction items
  • Support the silent auction process
  • Assist with marketing for the event

All School Tailgates – Fall/Spring

Event Dates are Tuesday, October 14, and Friday, April 10

  • Coordinate food vendors
  • Create activities for different age groups
  • Event set up/clean up
  • Order spirit items
  • Promote to the GFS community
  • Recruit event volunteers
     

Faculty and Staff Appreciation – Fall/Winter/Spring

  • Assist in the planning of appreciation activities throughout the year 
  • Help with the end-of-year Faculty and Staff Appreciation luncheon in May
     

Subject Matter Expert Series - Fall/Winter/Spring

  • Identify a topic for presentation and discussion for parents or students
  • Promote to the GFS community
  • Facilitate presentation and discussion 
  • Provide resource material
     

Baltimore Hunger Project Service Event - Spring

  • Work with staff at BHP to secure food items and transport to GFS
  • Recruit volunteer families to assemble 
  • Deliver food packages to the Baltimore Hunger Project

GFS Golf & Racquet Classic - Spring

  • Identify potential event sponsors
  • Assist with marketing for the event


Grizzly Gear - Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer

  • Sort incoming donations
  • Re-stock items
  • Assist families with sizing and selection
  • Record sales and manage money for deposit
  • Encourage donations from the community to stock Grizzly Gear


General PA Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities within Divisions:

Division Representative

  • Oversee grade teams
  • Work with the Division Head to facilitate parent engagement
  • Coordinate division events
     

Class Parent

  • Help teachers with class activities
  • Promote parent engagement in division events
  • Assist in planning events

Volunteer Opportunities with the Admissions Office:

Admission Parent Volunteers

  • Connect with families at on-campus events such as Open Houses and Visit Days
  • Follow up with a call and/or email after prospective families' campus visits
  • Share a testimonial (text or video) about your student's experience at Garrison Forest 
  • Review Garrison Forest School on Niche, Private School Review, Great Schools, Google, etc.

Admissions Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities Around Campus:

School Store

  • Assist with all aspects of School Store operations, including customer service, point-of-sale, inventory, etc.
  • Volunteers needed Monday-Thursday between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. 
  • Two-hour commitment is preferred

Host Family for a Boarding Student

  • Host a student for dinners, weekends and/or school vacations
