Preschool, Head of Preschool
Zibby Andrews came to Garrison Forest in 2000 as Head of Preschool. In her role, she oversees the programs of the youngest children on campus, from our Parent Toddler and Two-Year-Old classes through Pre-Kindergarten. In addition, Zibby is responsible for our on-campus Faculty Daycare, which includes infants through three-year-olds.
After majoring in Sociology and Elementary Education at Hollins College, Zibby received Master's degrees in Reading and in Counseling from the Johns Hopkins University and in Early Childhood Education from Towson University. She began her teaching career as a Third Grade teacher and taught Reading at Southern High School in Baltimore and at Towson University. While raising her three children, Zibby worked part-time as a parent liaison and editor of a newsletter for Baltimore City's Gifted and Talented Program, as a tutor and administrator for a reading clinic, as a Pre-First classroom teacher, and as a teacher at Villa Julie College. Before coming to Garrison Forest, she spent nine years as Director of Good Shepherd Preschool in Ruxton.
Zibby has three grown children. Her son is the Director for State Operations for Best Buddies, an international organization advocating for adults with intellectual disabilities. One of her daughters is a Fourth Grade Teacher, and the other is a Social Worker for Building Bridges, a mentoring program through the YMCA. Zibby's grandson and granddaughter keep her personally connected to the development of young children.
