About Lila Boyce Lohr

  • Garrison Forest School Class of 1963. Day student, 9th through 11th grades; boarding student, 12th grade; Vice President of School; Ragged Robins; Field Hockey
  • GFS 2012 Distinguished Alumna Award Recipient, Marshall-Offutt Society member, Career Day panelist and reunion volunteer.
  • Current Trustee, Garrison Forest School; President of the GFS Board, 2005-2011.
  • B.S., Political Science, Vassar College; M.Ed., Goucher College and studied business administration at Johns Hopkins.
  • Headmistress, St. Paul's School for Girls (1986-1995) and Head of School, Princeton Day School (first female head, 1995-2000).
  • Interim Headships at: Friends School of Baltimore (first female head); Princeton Day School; Indian Creek School; St. Paul’s School for Girls; Katherine Delmar Burke School (San Francisco); Town School for Boys (current position in San Francisco). Began her teaching career in 1967 at the Independent Day School in Middletown, CT before returning to Baltimore to teach lower school at The Bryn Mawr School. Over the course of 15 years, she was director of middle school, director of upper school and assistant headmistress.
  • Published widely, including authoring Game Plan for Getting into Private School (Peterson’s Guide, 2000).
  • Past president, Association of Independent Maryland Schools; former vice president, National Association of Principals of Schools for Girls; former board member for Johns Hopkins Hospital, Union Memorial Hospital, Center Stage, Maryland Historical Society, Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust, Woodbourne Center and others.
  • Married to Bobby Ittmann; three children, three step-children and five grandchildren.
