Garrison Forest has been a Confucius Classroom since 2009, enjoying support, materials and travel opportunities for students and administrators. Recently, Garrison Forest’s Confucius Classroom was awarded $10,000 for 2018 from the Confucius Institute at Maryland to fund equipment for Adventures in Chinese, a summer immersion program for elementary school students; a Pengyou Project to promote friendships among international students; and for arts and culture programs including Asian Art History. Stacy Mohn, Director of Finance and Operations, oversees the funds and programmatic overview. B.J. McElderry is the liaison between the Confucius Institute at Maryland and Garrison Forest School. She works with Jessy Molina, Director of Diversity, Chinese teachers, Crystal Tung and Eileen Lin, division heads, and a team of students to coordinate educational Chinese presentations and activities for the entire GFS community.
