Head of Middle School

Garrison Forest School seeks a Head of Middle School to begin July 1, 2019. The Head of the Middle School has primary responsibility for the leadership and operation of the Middle School (grades 6-8). The Head of the Middle School is responsible for planning, implementing and directing a well-rounded program and a positive learning environment in which Middle School students and faculty are stimulated to grow and develop in all aspects of their lives. The Head of the Middle School supervises an administrative team which includes a Dean of Students, a Curriculum and Academic Resource Coordinator, a Counselor, and a Digital Learning Specialist, and is supported by an administrative assistant.  The Head of the Middle School is a part of the Garrison Forest Leadership Team, reporting directly to and working closely with the Head of School.

Garrison Forest’s Middle School is a warm and engaging community, where a vibrant academic program is the result of a strong core curriculum combined with creative experiential opportunities.  Close faculty-student relationships, which are the hallmark of Garrison Forest School in every division, are especially visible and vital in the Middle School, as the girls transition out of the Lower School, taking on increasing academic, social, and co-curricular opportunities as they prepare to enter the Upper School.  The Middle School is a place where girls make this important transition with confidence, secure in the support of their peers and teachers.

Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years of experience in an independent school setting
  • Significant experience at the middle school level (teaching experience preferred)
  • Proven track record in faculty supervision and curriculum development
  • Graduate degree in educational leadership or specific subject area

Garrison Forest School is an independent, all-girls’ day and boarding school with a coed Preschool, located in Owings Mills, Maryland, minutes northwest of Baltimore City.
