Garrison Forest Upper School Chamber Choir and Middle School Chorus traveled to Hershey Park to participate in the annual Music in the Parks festival, a regional competition. The Middle School walked away with a 1st Place trophy for Middle School Women's Choir and received an excellent rating for their performance. The Upper School took first place in high school women's ensemble, won best overall choir and received a superior rating.
Before the students headed off to the competition, the Middle School gathered to cheer their fellow Grizzlies on led by PE teacher Suzie Friedrich.
Led by Middle School music teacher Ginny Flynn, the judges were impressed by the GFS Middle School performers at the competition. The girls were commended for excellent posture and eye contact with their director. The judges remarked that the girls' pieces were well performed with a lovely, even tone.
"I was extremely pleased with the Chorus' stage presence and their focus throughout the performance," said Mrs. Flynn. "They sang with a beautiful and expressive tone and gave musical attention to the meaning of the lyrics."
The Upper School students competed against 10 other choral ensembles on the high school level, and not only won in their category, but were recognized as the best overall choir.
"I couldn't be more proud of the students," said director and Upper School music teacher Dana Scott. "They really did their best."
On May 16, Chamber Choir treated an audience in Garland theater to a night of their beautiful voices with a Chamber Choir concert.
Congratulations, Chamber Choir and Middle School Chorus, on an outstanding year and a job well done!
