Student Life Assistant

Garrison Forest School seeks a part-time (20 hour/week, 7:30 am - 11:30 am, Monday - Friday) Student Life Assistant to begin immediately. The Student Life Assistant provides support directly to students, faculty and parents under the supervision of the Dean of Students and Director of Residential Life. As part of the administrative team in the Upper School, the Assistant provides support as needed for the division and the School as a whole.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Dean of Students Office

  • Manage attendance (lates, early departure, communication with parents and faculty)
  • Create all check-in sheets (arrival to school and community time)
  • Responsible for Upper School plasma - daily information to students and faculty
  • Responsible for Upper School Google Calendar for faculty
  • Assist with all Orientation preparation
  • Assign lockers
  • Organize and manage Quest trips
  • Communicate with Sage and Maintenance on a regular basis for all needs
  • Manage all mini-van and minibus requests
  • Manage demerit system and all detentions
  • Assist with Spirit events 
  • Organize Picture Day
  • Organize ordering and distribution of class rings for students 
  • Manage field trip requests and bus ordering
  • Organize Driver's Ed Program 
  • Help distribute mail to faculty and students

Director of Residential Life Office

  • Assist with all preparation for boarding student arrival in August
  • Assist with Residential Life Orientation process and all needs
  • Organize boarding permission forms and sign-in/out cards
  • Organize, distribute and manage keys for all dorms
  • Assist with storage of belongings of boarding students over the summer
  • Organize and assist with transportation to airports, bus stops and train stations
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Residential Life with weekend programming 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel); Google Docs; scheduling appointments/updating calendars a must
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to concentrate on multiple problems/tasks at once
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
