Parent Association Committees



The Parent Association at Garrison Forest is a vibrant, volunteer organization of parents across the divisions. From a wide variety of volunteering options to Parent Association-sponsored Grizzly Gear store and a variety of events, there is something to interest every GFS parent. Parent Association meetings are open to all GFS parents.

We welcome your participation!




This committee will work closely with Faculty/Staff Liaison Lauren Anderson, Middle School Dean of Students, to identify, enhance and align service, education and social activities that involve students from all divisions as well as the greater GFS community. 


This committee will work closely with Faculty/Staff Liaison Kate Gugerty, Director of Community Engagement and Parent Liaisons to identify ways in which the Parent Association can support the GFS community and initiatives across divisions. This committee will also oversee several subcommittees including: Faculty & Staff Appreciation, Grizzly Gear, Residential Hospitality and Sunshine.

  • Faculty and Staff Appreciation

Volunteers plan activities throughout the year to show the GFS faculty and staff how much they are appreciated. This has included treats around various holidays/breaks and the planning of the annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation luncheon in May.

  • Grizzly Gear

Grizzly Gear sells gently worn GFS uniforms and accessories at a discounted price. Located on the ground floor of Meadwood dormitory, this volunteer-run store holds hours throughout the school year and by appointment. Grizzly Gear also supports school events including Orientation, Spring Fling and Newly Accepted Student Visit Days. Volunteers can expect to help sort incoming donations, re-stock items, assist families with sizing and selection, record sales and manage money for deposit. Proceeds go to the Parent Association and donations are accepted throughout the year.

  • Residential Hospitality

Volunteers plan activities or identify items to purchase that support or enhance the experience of our boarding students.

  • Sunshine

Volunteers can support the Parent Liaison for the Sunshine Committee in communicating major events in the lives of the members of the GFS community including students, faculty, staff and parents.


This committee will work closely with Faculty/Staff Liaison Carolyn Lewis, Director of Community Life and Inclusion, and Parent Liaisons to partner in the planning of a wide-range of cultural events and activities that celebrate our diverse community. This would include events that have taken place in the past including the Multicultural Potluck, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration, as well as honoring and celebrating cultural and religious holidays throughout the year.
