Rachael Diamond Pines ’05, Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Division of Infectious Diseases

Rachael started in the health care field as a volunteer at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  Her first position was as a research assistant at Brigham and Women’s and also at Crossroads Research.  Following this role, Rachael took a position as a registered nurse in the Progressive Care Unit at Mercy Medical Center where she provided patient care from admission through transfer or discharge.  She then was a registered nurse at the University of Maryland Medical Center in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  After relocating to Philadelphia, Rachael began working at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where she provided nursing care to a diverse population of critically-ill newborns and infants requiring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services.  She then went back to school and earned her master’s degree as a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and began working in Endocrinology and Diabetes. She currently holds the position of Nurse Practitioner in Infectious Diseases. Rachael has won several awards and honors including the Edna Schoen Memorial Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice (2010) and a Presidential Honors Award (2005).  In addition, she received an AORN (Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses) of Baltimore scholarship.  Rachael has mentored students through the Girl’s Empowerment Movement organization in Baltimore, Maryland.  She was a 2014 Career Day panelist.
