Alexandra “Ali” Carey ’10, Managing Director, Tanzanian Children’s Fund (TCF)

During her time at Bucknell, Ali played attack for the lacrosse team and served as an administrative assistant with the university Office of Civic Engagement.  Additionally, she held internships with several organizations including the Santa Barbara Foundation (which supports residents of the California county) and the United Nations.  Before Ali joined the Tanzanian Children’s Fund team in March 2016, she held a position in crisis communications and public relations in Washington, D.C.  She first was a volunteer at Rift Valley Children’s Village – the Tanzanian Children’s Fund’s permanent home for orphaned and vulnerable children in northern Tanzania.  She then joined the U.S. office of TCF in April 2017 in the position of Director of Development and Communications.  In her current position, Ali manages North American operations, conducts hiring for both U.S. staff and contractors in Tanzania, implements development and communications plans, organizes fundraising tours across North America, and oversees the fund’s finances including creating budgets and managing investment portfolios.  Her work helps eliminate poverty and improve the lives of marginalized children and families in Tanzania.
