Lexington National Horse Show

The Garrison Forest Equestrian team recently went to the Lexington National Horse Show in Lexington, Va. Here are the results!

Drew Mallahan and Farnley Hi Tide

Drew, a Garrison Forest student and Equestrian Institute member, made her debut on her new pony, Farnley Hi Tide. 

Medium Pony Hunters:

Drew and "Ty" were 1st, 1st, 3rd, and 3rd in the over fences and 1st in the under saddle. Their effort earned them Champion in the Medium Pony Division and Grand Overall Pony Champion. This also qualified them for the 2021 USEF Pony Finals. They also finished 3rd and 3rd in the WIHS Pony Medal and USEF Pony Medal, respectively.

Rachel Tanio and Messina

Rachel, a Garrison Forest Community rider, rode her horse, Messina.

Adult Amateur Hunters 18-35:

Rachel and "Aladdin" placed 4th, 4th, 7th, and 1st in their over fences class. They also finished 1st place in the Adult Amateur Hunter Classic.

Low Hunters:

Rachel and Aladdin also competed in the Low Hunter division and finished 1st in an over fences class.

Nicola Higgins and Bently Du Vernay

Nicola, a Garrison Forest Community rider, rode Garrison Forest's Bently Du Vernay.

Children's Hunter 15-17:

Nicola and Bentley" were 4th, 1st, 3rd, and 5th in the over fences classes, and finished 11th in the Children's Hunter Classic. They also competed in the Gittings Horsemanship class and finished 1st place.

Virginia Edwards and H&M Uit De Melle

Virginia, a Garrison Forest student and Equestrian Institute member, rode her horse, H&M Uit De Melle. They made their debut in the Children's Hunter division.

Children's Hunter 15-17:

Virg and "Henry" finished 8th in their over fences class. Their efforts also earned them 8th in the Children's Hunter Classic.

Reagan Barnes and Mai Tai

Regan Barnes, a Garrison Forest student, rode Garrison Forest's Mai Tai.

Small/Medium Children's Pony Hunters:

Regan and "Tai" finished 7th, 8th, 4th, and 1st in their over fences classes.

Gwen Smith and Tiger Lily

Gwen, a Garrison Forest student, made her debut on Garrison Forest's Tiger Lily.

.75M Training Jumper:

Gwen and "Lily" finished 6th.

Pre Child/Adult Jumper:

Gwen and Lily finished 4th and 2nd in their jumper classes.

Grayson Finnerty and Fountain Luxius

Grayson, a Garrison Forest student, made her debut on her horse, Fountain Luxius.

Pre Child/Adult Jumper:

Grayson and "Mac" finished 2nd, 5th, and 1st in their classes, which earned them Reserve Champion in the division.

Cece Cooke and Atchafalaya 

Cece, a Garrison Forest student, rode her horse, Atchafalaya.  Cece and "Athens" had some great, competitive rounds in the Children's Hunters 15-17, Gittings, and Low Hunters.

Cassie Edgar and Freeman

Cassie, a Garrison Forest student and Equestrian Institute member, rode her horse, Freeman.

Low Child Adult Jumpers:

Cassie and "Morgan" finished 2nd in the stakes class with good efforts all week.

Riley Kletz and Chepetto

Riley, a Garrison Forest student, rode her horse, Chepetto.  They competed in the Adult Amateur Hunters 18-35 and Open Hunters.  They had very successful, competitive rounds as well.

Rachel, Nicola, and Cece all also went on to compete in the USHJA National Hunter Derby and had a great time, putting in some good rounds.
