At the annual Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Presentation and Awards Ceremony, the GFS team was awarded “Best Sense of Community in Site Design” for their thoughtful vision of a community center for Baltimore Peninsula. Throughout the project, students collaborated with mentors from the Baltimore offices of Gensler, a global architecture, design and planning firm, and STV.
A highlight of the evening was Jadyn L. ’25 being named the recipient of the CMIC/Allen Berg Memorial Scholarship—a national honor recognizing outstanding students pursuing post-secondary education in architecture, engineering, construction or skilled trades. Thank you to our incredible mentors for their guidance, and congratulations to this year’s team for their hard work. A special congratulations to Jadyn on this well-deserved recognition!
This is the third year GFS has participated in the ACE Mentor Program, a national initiative that connects students with experts from the design and construction industry. Throughout the year, the student teams work together to create solutions to real-world design problems. They learn to conduct research, work collaboratively, troubleshoot, use design tools and present their proposals to a panel of field experts. In addition to regular meetings, they work closely with their mentors and conduct site visits to better understand the needs of their client.
