GFS SCHOOL NEWS

In her first season running track, freshman Kayla A. '26 had a standout performance in the 55-meter dash at the IAAM Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, January 27. Her time of 7.48 seconds set a new school record and made her the first Grizzly to win an individual event at the indoor track championship meet in school history. Her performance qualified her for the New Balance and Adidas National meets this spring in Boston, Mass. and Virginia Beach, Va., respectively.

"I'm very excited to represent Garrison Forest, and I hope to continue my success at Nationals," Kayla expressed after the meet.

Her other performances on Friday included a 4th place in the 300-meter dash and a 7th place in the 4x200-meter relay alongside teammates Scarlett D. '25, Temi D. '24 and Vivian A. '25. 

The indoor track and field team had seven student-athletes compete at the championship meet and placed 8th with 19 points.
