Head of School Chris Hughes announced this morning the hiring of the next Athletic Director at Garrison Forest School: Jessy Morgan will be joining the GFS community starting on July 1, 2020. Jessy comes to GFS from George Mason University, where she has served as the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach since 2014. Jessy has also served as Head Lacrosse Coach at Howard University and Assistant Coach at the University of Virginia (where she was named an All-American and won an NCAA championship as a player). Jessy has also coached volleyball and basketball as well as lacrosse at the high school level. A former three-sport star at McDonogh and a member of the Baltimore Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Jessy is thrilled to be joining the Garrison Forest community.
"Although I will miss coaching, this next phase at GFS will allow me to help even more young women realize their potential,” Ms. Morgan said. “As I transition from the field to administration, I’m excited to impact and influence young athletes the same way I was mentored throughout my career. I hope to raise the bar at GFS and provide a great team and athletic experience to every girl who wants to play.”
Jessy’s passion for coaching and mentoring young women, her ability to effect change as a leader and her skills as both a communicator and collaborator are just a few of the traits that came to the forefront as she met with different constituents across campus. People who have worked with Jessy speak glowingly of her energy and work ethic, and more than one used the phrase "kid magnet" to describe her work with young people of all ages. We could not be more excited to see what she brings to Garrison Forest athletics!
