Head of School Chris Hughes announced this morning that Jodi Blackburn has been selected as the next Director of Residential Life at Garrison Forest School! A valued member of the GFS community for three years, Jodi's contributions include her work as a Lead Dorm Parent within our Residential Life program, serving as an academic advisor and athletic coach, and overseeing all aspects of our athletics program as the Assistant Athletic Director and, most recently, the Interim Athletic Director. Prior to coming to GFS, Jodi worked as a faculty member, coach, and administrator at the Montrose School (an all-girls day school) and Dana Hall School (an all-girls boarding and day school).
While her current and previous positions have well prepared her for taking on the Director of Residential Life role, those who know Jodi will appreciate the qualities that made her the very best candidate: her genuine care for our students, her unwavering work ethic, her commitment to success, and her ability to collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents. In her work in the dorms, Jodi has built strong relationships with our boarding community, both students and adults, and we are excited to see how she will continue to build upon the programs and initiatives that define our exceptional residential experience.
Jodi will continue in her current role until July, when Jessy Morgan will take over the Athletic Director position, and Jodi will transition into her new role. Congratulations to Jodi as she takes this next step in her journey here at Garrison Forest, and and heartfelt thank you to Jennifer Hua for her valuable service in this role over the past two years.
