GFS SCHOOL NEWS

Here are some of the highlights from Swan Lake St. Christopher's Horse show and Blue Rock Classic from a few weeks ago:

GFS student and Equestrian Institute Member Drew Mallahan '26 moved up to the Younger Children's Hunters on her horse Wingman. They got good ribbons, including a first place over fences and 7th in the classic. They also competed in the 2'6 Non Pro Hunter Derby and earned 5th.

Community member Finn Jacobs rode his horse Knee Deep in the the Children's Hunters. They earned 3rd and 4th in the over fences, as well as 8th in the classic and 7th in the 2'6 Non Pro Derby.  

Community member Rachel Tanio rode her horse, Messina, in the Adult Amateur Hunters. They were 1st in two of the over fences, earning them champion in the division. Rachel also rode Jennifer Tanio's Cordolensky in the National Junior/Amateur Hunter Derby. Jennifer then rode him in the Modified Hunters, earning a 2nd and 7th.

GFS student and Equestrian Institute Member Virginia Edwards '22 rode her horse in H&M Uit De Melle in the Older Children's Hunter. They earned good ribbons, including a 7th over fences and 12th in the 2'6 Non Pro Derby,

GFS student and Equestrian Institute Member Maddie Mohn '24 rode her horse, Caracas, in various equitation classes including a 3rd in the USHJA Hunt Seat Medal, 3rd in the NHS Medal, and 4th NCEA Junior Medal.

GFS student Alicia Gandsas '25 rode her horse, Stakkadom in various equitation classes as well, earning a 2nd in the USHJA 3'3 Hunt Seat Medal, 2nd in the NHS Medal, 2nd in Gittings Horsemanship, and a 3rd in the NCEA Junior Medal.

Community Member Magda Stewart rode her own Hupen's Casanova in the Low Adult Amateur Jumpers and had a very successful horse show, earning a 6th place ribbon in one of their classes.

GFS student and Equestrian Institute Member Grayson Finnerty '23 rode her horse, Auspicious, in the .90m jumpers and earned good ribbons, including a 4th and a 7th place.

GFS student and Equestrian Institute Member Caroline David '23 rode her horse, JoeMay 12, in the .90m jumpers and good ribbons in each class, including a 2nd and 12th in the stakes class.

GFS student Aspen Collins '30 rode her horse Cooperstown in the Short Stirrup. They earned two 2nd place ribbons, a 5th, and a 7th. Drew Mallahan '26 also showed Cooperstown in the Children's Hunters and earned good ribbons as well.

Community member Alex Hershfield rode her horse Veneto Fountaine in the Low Children's Jumpers and finished well, winning a 2nd place in one of their classes.

GFS student Gwen Smith '22 rode Garrison Forest School's Tiger Lily in the .80m jumpers. They earned great ribbons, including placing a 3rd and a 4th in two classes.

GFS student Kaitlyn Boatman '25 rode Best Intentions in the Pre Children's Hunters and placed well, including 5ths and a 3rd over fences.

GFS student Sophia Barrera made her debut with GFS on Reconnaissance and rode in the Pre Children's Hunters as well. They earned good ribbons including a 5th and a 3rd over fences.
