Each year, Garrison Forest 4th and 5th Grade participates in Junior Achievement of Maryland’s BizTown program, a series of lessons incorporating financial literacy and citizenship that culminates with a visit to a simulated, fully-interactive town. The program helps students make the connection between what they learn in school and the real world. For the second year in a row, the students have teamed up with 4th and 5th graders from Boys’ Latin School on the program and the girls and boys will work together onsite for the simulation in March. On February 12, GFS hosted the BL students for a series of icebreakers as an opportunity for the students to get to know one another, interact and collaborate on a group challenge. The day, which students and teachers alike agree was a success, was designed to help the students work comfortably together and to get excited for the March simulation.
