Astrobiology Day at Boys Latin

Expanding on the annual 6th Grade STEM Competition in the spring with Boys Latin hosted at GFS, Boys Latin hosted the GFS 6th Grade on their campus last Friday for an Astrobiology-themed event. After a morning of icebreakers and meeting their teams, the boys and girls worked together on their collaborative science project, creating rovers to work on other planets that would support unique extra-terrestial life forms. Working together in teams, the groups had to research the remote environments that they were given and create posters of the environment. They were then charged with designing life forms and rovers that could survive and work in those environments. After eating lunch together, the teams went on a “project tour,” viewing each other’s scientific creations.

Boys Latin and GFS 6th Grade has worked together for the last several years for an annual STEM competition. The Astrobiology Day created an additional opportunity for the boys and girls to get to know and share in learning with one another.
