Thanksgiving Spirit and Service

Middle School and Upper School Light Blue and Dark Blue Spirit Teams took part in giving before the Thanksgiving Break and enjoyed some friendly spirit competition along the way.

In Upper School, students played ball for a cause with a dodgeball tournament to raise money for Lyme disease. Organized by Senior Amanda Trattner, students and faculty could pay five dollars to participate in the Light Blue vs. Dark Blue dodgeball competition in the Gym Annex. The fierce yet friendly competition ended with a match between GFS Seniors and faculty where Head of School Chris Hughes remained the last one standing on the faculty team. He proved to be no match for the Class of 2019 as they ousted him to clinch their win!

Middle School students led the annual longstanding GFS tradition of collecting food for the Donald Bentley Food Pantry located in Baltimore City. The students collected more than 1,200 food items which four students from Middle School Forum delivered to Donald Bentley on November 20.  Light Blues brought in 572 food items and the Dark Blues brought in 619.  A very special thank you to the Lower School for also helping with a very successful food drive!
