GFS Shines at Maryland Dance Alliance Festival

On Friday, February 22, GFS Upper School dancers participated in the 2019 Maryland Dance Alliance Festival. Held this year at the Gordon Center for the Performing Arts in Owings Mills, the Maryland Dance Alliance (MDA) takes place annually and is sponsored by the Maryland Dance Education Association.  MDA is a day of masterclasses with application to perform in an adjudicated evening concert. The MDA’s mission is to cultivate student leadership through the participation of schools with NHDSA chapters and make connections between high school age dance programs from across Maryland.

During the day, GFS dancers participated in master classes, many of which were out of their comfort zone and helped to push them as artists. On Friday evening, the students performed to a packed house at the Gordon Center.

"I am so incredibly proud of these young ladies,” says Garrison Forest dance teacher Heather Malone-Wolf. “Their passion, artistry, tenacity and sisterhood continue to amaze me. I was truly at a loss for words! Many of them will be graduating in the spring, so it was such a special moment for us as a company.”
