GFS SCHOOL NEWS

Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime. One unit of blood can save up to three lives. The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. To help address this need, Garrison Forest teamed up with the American Red Cross on Tuesday, January 17 to host the annual GFS Community blood drive.

Each year, GFS students and faculty work together with the Red Cross to set up the blood drive in the Searle Athletic Center lobby. Members of the GFS community—students, parents, faculty, staff and friends—gather to donate the life-saving blood to support the work of the Red Cross. Garrison Forest’s 2019 goal was 25 units of blood, and through the generosity of students, faculty, staff, parents, grandparents and siblings we collected 29!

A very special thank you to the very generous donors, our student project captains, bakers and registration workers and faculty supporters and English teacher and community service coordinator Barb Ackerman for leading the project.
