Arts Students Visit Washington, D.C. 

On November 9, Upper School students in Portfolio, Photo I, Sculpture, Jewelry, Drawing, Painting and Color Theory class took a field trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the Renwick Gallery and the American Art Museum and Portrait Gallery. Accompanied by art department chair Diane Yu and Upper School art teacher Sarah Sachs, the students stopped first the Renwick Gallery to view the No Spectators: Art of Burning Man exhibition. This show consists of primary large sculptures and installations. Following the Renwick Gallery, the students headed to the American Art Museum and Portrait gallery to view exhibitions relevant to what the students are learning in the classroom: Trevor Pagelen, Blurring the Lines Between Science and Art; Diane Arbus: Box of Ten Photographs; and Direct carving sculptures.
